I have listened to, learned, and loved songs as long as I can remember. Songs soothe me on the worst days and make the best downright joyful. They transform the ordinary into something I want to sing about. In spite of, or perhaps because of, my passion for songs and singing, I thought songwriting couldn’t be the work of mere mortals. I don’t know what got me going, but now, making songs is all I want to do. I wrote the songs on The Girl I Left Behind over the past few years and, with encouragement from one very patient sound engineer, recorded them with a bunch of stellar local players. I had so much fun making this record, and learned so much about making music, I’ll be trying the rest of my life to make my heroes proud.
